Long Island’s own FIFTY FIRST STATE just opened its doors a couple months ago and is now releasing a new piece in collaboration with ELMCOMPANY. Besides a skate shop stocking brands ranging from In4mation to Girl, FFS is an in house brand that draws a lot of its inspiration from the Long Island subculture. Located in a place rooted deeply in the soul of New York but wanting to make their voice heard over the shadows of the NYC skyline, FFS’s first release pays homage to the area they reside within dropping the first Long Island fitted. The cap’s black and orange coloring takes its inspiration from the original New York Giants baseball team, which has a rich New York history having been started in 1883 and calling New York home until the 1950’s when they moved to to San Francisco. The front of the cap is an LI logo styled with a traditional early 1900’s font often found in the logos from teams of the same era. The LI not only stands for Long Island, but also represents the Roman Numeral “51″ tying the logo directly back to the namesake Fifty First State. Only 51 pieces have been made and will be available 12/12 at noon at FFS. These will be gone quick, so don’t sleep on this release.

Two of Bay Area’s finest join forces as Benny Gold and REBEL8 issue this upcoming New Era 59FIFTY fitted cap. The design incorporates the iconic styles of both artists an embroidery seen on the front panel and prints on the top of the bill. In addition smaller embroideries can be seen on the sides. Available online starting 9:00 PST on Friday, November 20th in a limited run of 88 pieces.

This is the EL TIGRE fitted cap from californian streetwear brand NEFF.
I rate this cap to the fullest, the tiger embroidered logo is pure quality and a must have in your cap collection for summer 09. Get your hands on one if you can peeps.

Here’s a little background history on the brand…
NEFF was started by Shaun Neff, in Southern California during the year 2002. Growing up in California surrounded by the skate, surf and snow culture and active in those sports he always had the dream to be apart of the business side of the industry. Originally starting out as a clothing company Neff made a couple shirts and hats and the adventure began. Shaun hustled the product out of his car buying 99 cent headbands marking Neff on them with paint pens then giving them to friends as the Neff vibe began. Shaun then moved up to Utah to attend college at BYU where he then met several key individuals in the industry. The first and vital character to the NEFF story is Nate Bozung who Shaun met at the TRUE LIFE video premier and the neff-bozung relationship began. Shaun and Boznutz would buy target beanies and headbands and give them the Neff touch then give them to the biggest, dopest pros in the snow industry. Chilling with Bozung and other pros such as: Travis Rice, IIkka Backstrom, Laurie Heiskari, and skaters Lizard King and Adam Dyet he realized to get them apart of the program and not conflict with clothing sponsors the company would have to focus on headwear. NEFF HEADWEAR was born being the first authentic core snow and skate headwear company in the game. That was the genius of our move at NEFF that really allowed us to go global under a unique niche of headwear.
